Centerpiece Hypothetical Case Study:

The Hands of Self Expression

TYPE: Conceptual Exploration

PROJECT LOCATION: Antwerp, Belgium

FOCUS: Centerpiece

OBJECTIVE: Turn the jewellery display into a physical expression of Pandora's world

VISUALISATION: AI-generated renders

01 CONCEPTUAL EXPLORATION

This independent concept study explores how a retail centrepiece can become more than a display fixture, transforming the centre of the store into a physical expression of Pandora's language of self-expression, memories and personal stories.

The proposal was developed independently by By Vicky Ong Studio and is not affiliated with or commissioned by Pandora or any related parties.

Pandora is built around something deeply personal, the stories we choose to carry.

Yet jewellery is often displayed through conventional cases and fixtures, designed to present products rather than express the emotion behind them.

We saw an opportunity to turn the centrepiece itself into part of Pandora's story. We are bringing back an open way for Pandora to display its products, letting customers feel and touch them, evoking a sense of friendliness and warmth.

03 THE SIGNATURE FEATURE

The inspiration was simple: the hand that wears the jewellery.
So the hand became the sculpture. The charms became the story. The clouds became the stage.

And together, they form a floating garden of personal expression.

04 DESIGN INTENT

“Where every hand celebrates every story”

Our intention was to translate Pandora's language of personal expression into a physical installation.
Transparent sculptural hands reach upward, holding jewellery and forming different gestures throughout the composition.
Each hand is intentionally unique and reflecting the individuality of the person who wears it.

05 CONCEPT EXPLORATION

Glass Hands

Delicate transparent hands create a sense of lightness while allowing the jewellery to remain the focus.

Floating Clouds

Soft pink cloud forms create individual stages for each hand, introducing a playful vertical rhythm to the installation.

Charm Garden

At the centre, a dense collection of charms forms a “garden of memories” — many individual pieces coming together as one story.

Reflective Base

A mirrored sculptural base reflects the surrounding store and the people moving around it, making the customer part of the composition.

06 DESIGN ROLE

“We work from one belief: that a single well-conceived element can transform a centerpiece from functional to unforgettable.”

For Pandora, the Signature Feature becomes more than a display. It becomes a visual landmark, a storytelling device, and a customer experience, all in one.

07 THE OUTCOME

We designed a feature that is not only seen but becomes the centre of attention within the store.
The sculptural hands transform the conventional mannequin display into an expressive jewellery showcase, giving Pandora's products a human presence while creating a strong visual landmark at the heart of the retail space.

It functions as both a mannequin for the jewellery and a signature centrepiece, inviting customers to pause, explore from every angle, and discover the stories behind each piece.

Creating one feature, telling the whole story.

Soft. Feminine. Playful.

Uniquely Pandora.
