This independent concept study explores how a Signature Feature can transform a Läderach retail space, turning the brand's most defining gesture into a permanent focal wall.

The proposal was developed independently by By Vicky Ong Studio and is not affiliated with or commissioned by Läderach or any related parties.

01 CONCEPTUAL EXPLORATION

Läderach built its identity on a single act, the breaking of the FrischSchoggi slab by hand. You choose a flavour. The chocolatier breaks the slab, right there, right in front of you.

That moment of fracture, practised since 2004, became our brief, by translating the iconic act into architecture.

Läderach communicates through ritual. The break, the slab, the scatter of fresh chocolate — not decorations. The brand's origin story, told in thirty seconds at a counter.

We brought that story into the focal wall, told in thirty metres.

04 DESIGN INTENT

“break slab. iconic act. the moment ”

We did not want to design a chocolate wall. We designed a fracture, the exact moment the Läderach experience begins. Every element on this wall traces back to a single gesture practised behind a counter since 2004.

The wall does not describe the brand. It is the brand, frozen at the moment of its defining act.

05 CONCEPT EXPLORATION

“ The slab breaks.

The chocolate flows.”

The most distinctive and ownable act in chocolate retail is the one that gives Läderach its most human, most memorable voice. Looking at the focal wall, you can almost hear the chocolate break.

That is the moment we designed for.

The Break Line

A bold diagonal fracture runs full height, from upper right to lower left. Subtle tonal shifts across the breaking slabs create depth and dimension, an elegant expression of the brand's most playful act.

The droplet field

Three-dimensional cast resin droplets, finished in brushed gold, are mounted in relief across the entire wall surface, creates a sophisticated expression of the moment the brand is built on.

Material base  · Deep cocoa #1A1410

Instead of black, we specified Deep Cocoa #1A1410 - one of Läderach's own brand colours. Dark fluted walnut panels line the full surface, their vertical grooves casting fine shadow lines under directional light. Warm, tactile, crafted.

Against the deep cocoa base, the gold brass logo lands with quiet authority. The store feels refreshed , calm, considered, premium.

06 DESIGN ROLE

"The counter is the stage. The slab is the actor. The break is the act. We built the backdrop."

07 THE OUTCOME

Most brand walls display a logo. This one enacts a ritual.

The focal wall that only belongs to Läderach store from a premium chocolate retailer into a space with a story, the kind of feature customers photograph, remember, and return to. A permanent expression of the moment the brand was built on.
