a centerpiece display

Bottega Veneta | KLCC, Kuala Lumpur
TYPE: Conceptual Exploration
PROJECT LOCATION: Malaysia
FOCUS: Centerpiece
OBJECTIVE: Create a display centerpiece that carries the full weight of the brand's craft identity
VISUALISATION: AI-generated renders
This independent concept study explores how a Signature Feature can transform the Bottega Veneta KLCC store into a space that communicates craft, identity, and emotional depth, through a single defining object at its center.
The proposal was developed independently by By Vicky Ong Studio and is not affiliated with or commissioned by Bottega Veneta or any related parties.
01 CONCEPTUAL EXPLORATION
Bottega Veneta has one of the most disciplined visual identities in luxury retail. No logo. No distraction. Only material, craft, and colour doing the talking.
The KLCC store, built in 2017, presents a clean and contemporary interior but lacks the one element that pulls a customer closer.
For a brand defined by handcraft, the space should present the same way as the product.
We saw one clear opportunity: design the centerpiece the way Bottega Veneta designs everything with the same material, the same weave, the same colour. Made to be recognised before it is explained.
02 THE OPPORTUNITY
BEFORE
03 THE SIGNATURE FEATURE
Bottega Veneta communicates through craft rather than logos. The Intrecciato weave, Parakeet green, Italian leather. They are not decorations, they are the brand's private language.
We took that same language and built it into the display itself.
04 DESIGN INTENT
“the same Weave. the same Colour, becomes One Table.”
We designed the centerpiece as a direct material translation of the brand. A table built the same way as the bag placed on it in the same tones as the space surrounding it. Structural, not decorative. Uniquely Bottega Veneta without bearing its name.
05 CONCEPT EXPLORATION
“ the woven plinth ”
We were inspired by Bottega Veneta itself, and created the unified display system to carry Intrecciato craftsmanship and Parakeet identity from KLCC to every store globally.
The Woven Surface
The most iconic element: the Intrecciato basket weave. The tabletop is handwoven from 25mm Italian walnut strips, with the pattern running structurally through the entire surface, creating weaving texture. At every fourth interval, a Parakeet green leather strip is woven into the composition.
What you see is a warm walnut surface with a quiet pulse of green — a display table that carries the brand before a single product is placed on it.
That is the moment the store has you.
The Marble Border
A 40mm Verde Saint Denis marble inlay frames the woven walnut surface, connecting the tabletop to the full display structure in one continuous finish.
Clean. Unified. Finished in the colour that says Bottega Veneta before anything else does.
06 DESIGN ROLE
“ We design on one belief, that the right feature doesn't compete with the product. It completes it.“
07 THE OUTCOME
We designed a centerpiece that speaks Bottega Veneta before you recognise the logo.
The Woven Plinth repositions a clean retail interior into a space with something to say, an art as well as a product display customers walk toward, linger at, take a closer look at the craft, and remember without being told why.
Creating one feature, telling the whole story.
